Parent Resources
There is some disagreement about the need to teach typing and other keyboarding skills to students who use computers. If students are to use computers, they must know how to use a keyboard effectively. Otherwise, they are likely to waste valuable time and miss out on learning opportunities that computers can provide. By developing effective keyboarding techniques, students can use their computer time more productively; they can focus on the task at hand instead of concentrating on locating keys on the keyboard, and they can build a life-long skill in the process (Wetzel, 1985).
